Sunflowers - Studio Work - Oil Paintings

The sunflowers were a fleeting series just as the flowers themselves were.  They were drawn, painted, and sculpted to reflect the bent stalks and drying heads through August & September 2015.  The tiny topmost leaves dried first and split and grasped for salvation.

The sunflowers were painted in summer 2015, never truly leaving the representational behind but using it as a structural base.  The plants were taken in a direction not usually drawn to make the viewer discover something new in the patterns and layers of giant leaves, mini weeds, and split leaf hands.
