Madolin Maxey rarely exhibits her self-portraits.  They are a deeply personal look at herself as a woman and an artist. Often she paints the self images at times of severe eye problems, when her view of herself and her world are distorted. Maxey confronts herself in the mirror and explores the vision as it appears to her.  The paintings are a way to overcome her fears of not only how she sees as an artist but also how she looks as a woman.
